#6 – Blue Herons

Feb 27 2012

I’ve been obsessing over these beautiful birds for some time now, trying to capture them high up on their perch in the tall trees at the dog park. This being the rainy city that it is, usually there hasn’t been enough light to photograph them with enough detail using my lens. But today, the sun was out:) And I made sure I had my camera with me because I knew this was the day that I could finally take a decent image of them doing their thing:) I always look forward to seeing them during my routine walks with Ellie (my Foxhound) at the nearby dog park. It isn’t uncommon to see anywhere from 3 to 10 of them gathered in one particular area near the Sammamish river, usually resting on the tree branches, high above the area where dogs splash about in the water. My next challenge will be to snap one standing in the river, the way they are more commonly seen, fishing or bathing. These are truly magnificent birds and I feel so lucky to be able to catch a glimpse of them almost every day.

#5 – Seeing Rainbows

Feb 26 2012

Most of today was filled with rain, storm clouds, hale, and even a bit of snow in the morning. But for a fleeting moment right before sunset, the sun made a surprise appearance and took center stage with this impressive display of color. I snapped this image standing just a short distance from the base of the rainbow; it almost felt like I could walk right up to it and stand in the middle of the spectrum of bright colorful light:) It was magical.

#4 – Tiny Watering Can

Feb 25 2012

This cute little watering can is actually a pendant. When I set out to take a photo of my assortment of colorful beads, Soroush placed it on the frame of the bead box:) I thought it was too sweet not to show, even though I can’t take credit for the idea. I love how it looks like the beads are coming out of the watering can. So whimsical:)
